Threads of Resilience,
Voices of Women
The history of “Textil Arcoíris”, better known as the Asociación de Mujeres Arcoíris in San Juan La Laguna is a testament to resilience, community vision, and spiritual transformation. It is a dynamic collective of Tz’utujil artisans dedicated to cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and ecological sustainability. Founded by visionary entrepreneur Isabela Candelaria YOTZ RAMIREZ, the association emerged during the pandemic in response to economic hardship and the need for dignified and independent livelihoods and would redefine the value of Indigenous women’s work.
It works in artisanal textiles and manufactures its products, from the implementation of the yarn to the natural dyeing of plants and seeds, resulting in sustainable and natural products. Each creation is unique and inspired by women aged 18 to 65. Our products include handmade scarves, men’s and women’s clothing, bags, makeup kits, yarn making and dyeing demonstration tours, and the creation of each handwoven piece. In short, it’s our craft.
Our Mission
Strengthen the role of women as guardians of culture, spirituality, and Mother Earth through community, productive, and educational initiatives that promote equity, a solidarity economy, territorial defense, and the recognition of ancestral knowledge. “Textil Arcoíris,” better known as the Rainbow Women’s Association, weaves dignity, art, and collaboration in the heart of San Juan La Laguna.

Our Vision
To be a community organization recognized for its ethical, inclusive, and spiritual leadership, where women’s voices, living culture, and respect for Mother Earth guide every action. We aspire for San Juan La Laguna to be an example of harmony between tradition and future, woven by diverse hands under the rainbow.

We practice respect by recognizing and honoring ancestral traditions, living spirituality, diverse voices, and the local knowledge that sustains us. We foster inclusion by promoting equitable participation and eliminating physical, social, and cultural barriers that hinder collective growth. We act with transparency, sharing clear and open information about our decisions, resources, and partnerships. We take responsibility for our actions and ensure the well-being of our families, communities, and territories. Finally, we cultivate balance, integrating modernity and tradition in harmony with Mother Earth, guided by the energy of Ixq’anil, the spirit of the seed, creativity, and regeneration.
